tree swallows

On my walk this morning, I was lucky to pause and have 2 tree swallows land within a few feet of me. They were beautiful! More signs of spring... 2 crows were battling with a bunny in my backyard. They seem to have recovered from West Nile virus and I've seen more signs of the big black birds around the neighborhood.

Step 9

WOW! I can't believe I even went to the next step... without asking any of my sons for help :) This is truly a first. I think the best part of this entire exercise is that after you struggle the first few times and don't give up, it actually gets easier!! So hang in there if you're still on the way!
I subscribed to 2 book review podcasts and since my mornings are pretty hectic and I miss most of the radio show between carpooling and walking and getting ready for work, I added the Eric and Cathy show podcast from 101.9 the MIX to my feed. That way when my son calls in, and I'm taking the garbage out to the street, I can later listen to him on the podcast (yes, this actually happened)
Thanks for making my life easier :)

Step 8

OK.. I actually went to MyMediaMall and downloaded a cookbook ALL BY MYSELF!! This would be great to have for the emergency cooking dilemmas that come up from time to time that the Food Network can't solve. Very interesting. I do miss actually holding the book in my hands part, however I think this download will be safe from my usual spills :)

Bird seed I use

I was asked what I use to feed my birds. Currently I have a 3-feeder station set up. One tall feeder (6 posts) has sunflower chips (no shells), one thistle feeder and one soft thistle feeder both with Niger seed in them. I find this attracts plenty of finches plus my cardinal family and there is no waste and no shells on the ground. AND the seed that falls feeds the mourning doves and juncos. Yesterday there were nuthatches, finches, chickadees, cardinals, a couple of sparrows, and now some grackles, red-winged blackbirds, and mourning doves. The list grows... must be spring!

Step 7

I went to our wiki page and also visited the CCS wiki site. I think both have the advantage of a common site for dialogue between many participants. Maybe we could have monthly discussions here on different topics for the library... sort of a online suggestion box talk?

Step 6

I love the del.icio.us social bookmarking site! Of course, I had to add my birdwatching website. It was very easy to do and I look forward to using it for "book" watching, too! Great idea!

Step 5

Wow! I am on a roll! I am already on Facebook, so I became a fan of the Northbrook Library site. Then I joined LibraryThing and started loading my library. I am definitely going to put in all of my favorites. It will take awhile :) especially since I've been in a book club for over 20 years!! But what a great place to keep them all!
